Former North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper raised over $3 million in the first 24 hours after announcing his bid for the U.S. Senate.

Senate campaign announced it raised more than $3.4 million in the 24 hours since launching Monday. Cooper’s campaign said it raised $2.6 million for his Senate campaign plus an additional $900,000 for the Democratic Party.

Name recognition and experience are among his advantages, but Triad professors say his strategy in this race will need to be different than previous campaigns.
