Tsunami waves arrived on the eastern coast of Japan following a powerful 8.8. magnitude earthquake off the eastern coast of Russia that also sparked fears of a tsunami in the U.S.

Tsunami alerts were issued for Alaska and Hawaii on Tuesday after a major, 8.8 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Russia, according to officials.

Several people were injured after one of the strongest earthquakes ever recorded struck off of Russia's Kamchatka coast. Local officials said all those who were hurt are in a stable condition.View on
