Most school districts in the Puget Sound and Western Washington were open Friday, including Seattle Public Schools, after intermittent closures during the week.

We should dry out by the second half of the morning commute, with sunshine on tap for the second half of the day. Temperatures will warm again to the mid 30s, which should help melt any snow or ice on the main roads by midday.

We're expecting an icy Friday morning commute after temperatures dip well below freezing, into the mid 20s. Ice and slush could create dangerous and slippery road conditions in the greater Seattle area.

The National Weather Service recorded about an inch of snow at its Seattle office from the overnight precipitation, with another chance for showers before 10 a.m.
