National Guard troops arrived in Los Angeles early Sunday on the order of President Trump after protests roiled the city in recent days as federal law enforcement officers carried out immigration operations in the region.

Trump went against Gov. Gavin Newsom to federalize 2,000 California National Guard troops to quell the protests against immigration raids in Los Angeles.

National Guardsmen called up by President Donald Trump to curb the demonstrations arrived Sunday morning, as Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth said he might send in U.S. Marines if necessary to aid them.
