Fans celebrating the arrival of the WNBA to the City of Boston might want to temper their expectations in the short term. Recent reporting from the Boston Globe's Gary Washburn relates that the WNBA itself is throwing cold water on ta potential move of the recently-purchased Connecticut Sun to a new location.

Celtics minority governor Steve Pagliuca has agreed to a deal to purchase the Connecticut Sun from the Mohegan Tribe and plans to move the franchise to Boston by 2027, The Boston Globe ‘s Gary Washburn reported Saturday.

Connecticut Sun president Jennifer Rizzotti told reporters on Sunday that the team would remain in its current home of the Mohegan Sun Arena through at least the 2026 season, amidst reports that Boston Celtics' minority governor Steve Pagliuca was leading an ownership group that planned to buy the franchise and move it to Boston.
