The Russian and Ukrainian leaders both spoke out following President Trump's 28-point peace plan was revealed.

Volodymyr Zelensky has revealed he is agonising over "one of the most difficult moments" in Ukraine's history as it faces a deadline from Donald Trump to agree to a peace plan.

Volodymyr Zelensky has said he will not betray Ukraine as he promised to propose "alternatives" to the Donald Trump’s peace proposal. "This is one of the most difficult moments in our history," Mr Zelensky said in a video address to the nation,

The Trump administration has proposed a 28-point peace plan designed to end the Russia-Ukraine war. President Volodymyr Zelensky of Ukraine said that his country was facing a “difficult choice.”

President Trump has repeatedly publicly criticized the Ukrainian leader, who has in turn attempted to smooth over tensions.

The plan foresees Ukraine handing over territory to Russia — something Kyiv has repeatedly ruled out — while reducing the size of its army and blocking its coveted path to NATO membership.

The Ukrainian president’s options are narrowing as he is confronted with a 28-point proposal drafted by American and Russian envoys.
