The son and adviser of ousted Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina said on Sunday that supporters of her Awami League would block February’s national election if a ban on the party was not lifted,

The Awami League leader was held guilty of ordering a deadly crackdown on student-led protests against her government in July and August 2024.

The interim government under Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus actively sanctioned the assaults against minorities, especially Hindus, forcing them to displace and flee, said former Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.
