Jimmy Fallon won't be on TV quite as much in the future. Here's why we'll be seeing less new episodes of 'The Tonight Show.'

Sept. 7 (UPI) -- NBC has announced Jimmy Fallon 's Tonight Show will tape and air episodes four nights a week instead of five, starting this fall. The late-night chat show, which is broadcast in New York, will air new episodes Monday through Thursday, then show repeats on Fridays.

As streaming pulls viewers away from traditional TV, the once-lucrative late-night genre is under pressure to bring down costs.

Show Starring Jimmy Fallon has corresponded its air days, slashing it down to four, with a repeated edition to come out on Friday. As per Entertainment Weekly, the new episodes will continue to be broadcast from Monday to Thursday.
