Police in Providence, Rhode Island, said "multiple" people were shot near Brown University after the school alerted students to an active shooter on campus on Saturday. "This is an active investigation," Providence police posted on X. "Please shelter in place or avoid the area until further notice."

Two people died and nine others were wounded following a shooting this afternoon at the Barus & Holley building of Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, officials said.

Officials released a video of the suspect, a male possibly in his 30s and dressed in black.
