The National Hurricane Center is watching out for a disturbance in the Gulf of Mexico that could send tropical moisture toward Houston next week.
The hurricane center on Thursday said an area of low pressure could develop along an old frontal boundary in the western Atlantic near Florida’s east coast in the next few days. That disturbance could then track to the northwest, which would take it across the Florida peninsula and into the Gulf.
An area of low pressure is bringing rounds of showers and thunderstorms to the Gulf Coast, with a COASTAL FLOOD ADVISORY in effect for Cameron and Calcasieu Parishes, while a tropical wave in the Atlantic is being monitored for potential development.
An area of low pressure that formed between South Florida and the Central Bahamas is forecast to bring periods of heavy rain and coastal flooding to the Gulf Coast region over the weekend.
