The Seattle Mariners won't have their All-Star starting pitcher for their first playoff series in three years.

The Seattle Mariners will have their hands full in Game 1 of the ALDS. Seattle gladly enjoyed its bye while its competitor had to compete in the Wild Card round. But now the Mariners know who they'll be facing, and it's a tough task: Tarik Skubal.

It was a flat start for the Detroit Tigers vs. the Mariners after a long rain delay, but at this point the lack of hitting is becoming an expectation.

The last time the Mariners won a home playoff game was October 15, 2001, when they defeated Cleveland 3–1. That season, they advanced to the ALCS but were ultimately defeated by the Yankees in a five-game series.
