The National Hurricane Center is tracking a tropical system in the central Atlantic that has a high probability of becoming a tropical depression within the next week. Environmental conditions appear favorable for development, with forecasters giving the system a 70% chance of formation within 48 hours and an 80% chance within seven days.
Karen was a subtropical storm in the North Atlantic Ocean late Thursday Eastern time, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory. Karen is the 11th named storm to form in the Atlantic in 2025.
The National Hurricane Center is tracking two tropical disturbances, including one expected to cross Florida over the weekend.
Along with Tropical Storm Jerry, the National Hurricane Center is tracking a trough of low pressure in the southwestern Gulf: Southwestern Gulf: A trough of low pressure located over the Yucatan Peninsula is producing a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
Parts of Mexico and the Southwestern U.S. can continue to see impacts from Tropical Storm Lorena through the weekend.
This storm is no longer being tracked. Octave was a post-tropical cyclone in the North Pacific Ocean Thursday morning Pacific time, the National Hurricane Center said in its latest advisory. Octave is the 15th named storm to form in the Eastern Pacific in 2025.
