Typhoon Halong skirted Japan this week and will begin a trek across the Pacific Ocean toward the Pacific Northwest.

The KCRA 3 weather team continues to monitor a storm system that will likely bring rain and some high-elevation snow to Northern California early next week.Tuesday is now a KCRA 3 weather Impact Day.

After growing into a hurricane, Gabrielle, the seventh named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season, is gaining steam, but is not expected to make landfall.

The NWS WPC began issuing key messages for the storm earlier this week. Meteorologists with the agency said the impending coastal storm would bring " strong wind gusts, heavy rainfall, and significant coastal impacts," including coastal flooding, rip currents and beach erosion to parts of the East Coast this weekend.

The strong coastal storm is expected to reach New Jersey by Sunday and cause moderate to major flooding at the Jersey Shore.

The north and west of Scotland will be worst hit by Storm Amy, with a Met Office amber warning for "damaging winds" in place from 5pm today until 9am on Saturday. Those living in parts of the Highlands and Western Isles have been warned of a "danger to life" from flying debris, potential power cut,s as well as road closures and damage to buildings.

In Northern Britain, Storm Amy, the first named storm of the 2025-2026 season, will see gusts widely reaching 50 to 60mph and potentially reaching 70 to 80mph in places. Stronger gusts are expected on exposed coasts and hills, mainly in the north west.
