The overriding trend of the 2025 college football season -- anything goes -- continued in Week 6 with two sure-fire preseason College Football Playoff contenders losing to opponents who (up to that point) had disappointed.

Additionally, the Group of Five playoff berth fight moved into focus with the Memphis Tigers and South Florida Bulls jumping into the bottom half of the poll. Penn State and Texas were both expected to be in the 12-team field when the preseason polls came out.
