The search for victims of deadly flooding in Texas Hill Country is headed into its third week as officials try to pin down exactly how many people remain missing.

Mimi Hymel said the trauma of escaping Hurricane Katrina had a lasting impact on her childhood. But 20 years later, she’s found a way to bring comfort to the youngest survivors of today’s natural disasters.

Gary, DeeAnn, Jake and Megan all lost their lives. Harley is still among the missing. Both families lived in Canyon Lake but have ties to the Houston and Mont Belvieu areas. Hutch and Beth Bryan, formerly of Houston, died in the Texas Hill Country flooding.

The search for victims along the Guadalupe River has become a grueling, painstaking slog. Several thousand volunteers from across the country are helping.

The Rangers also launched a "Together for Texas" campaign, selling T-shirts and raising funds to send to the affected region.

KERR COUNTY, Texas – Two weeks after the deadly floods in the Texas Hill Country, art installations honor the lives lost. Lauren Singleton is from Kerrville, and Amy Tovar is from San Antonio. They were both sitting alongside the Guadalupe River on July 18, praying for the families impacted.
