The America250 kickoff event in Des Moines opened at 5 p.m. Thursday with a prayer and closed around 8:30 after an hourlong speech by President Donald Trump. Much of the crowd, which lined up hours ahead of the event and braved 90-plus degree temperatures, stuck around to watch fireworks at the Iowa State Fairgrounds.

"What's the name of that county?" Trump asked, recalling that he won all but one county during the 2024 Iowa Caucus. "Let's get them out of here."
