Former Boston Red Sox Michael Chavis has signed a minor league deal with the reigning World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers. Chavis, a 29-year-old infielder, was once a highly regarded prospect in Boston’s system.

Michael Chavis, who came up with the Red Sox in 2019 as the top prospect in the organization, didn't play at all in the majors in 2024.

The 29-year-old infielder was selected by the Red Sox in the first round of the 2014 MLB Draft and spent three years on the big league roster. Boston traded Chavis in the summer of 2021 to the Pittsburgh Pirates in exchange for left-handed relief pitcher Austin Davis.

Hernández spent the last two seasons in LA — his second stint with the team — after the Red Sox traded him to the Dodgers in 2023. He helped Los Angeles win the World Series when he batted .278 with five hits (one triple) and three runs in the five-game series against the Yankees.
