The Illinois State of Illinois Building in Downtown Chicago has been renamed the Jesse White State of Illinois Building to honor Jesse White, the state's longest-serving Secretary of State, for his efforts as a public servant.

During the Illinois General Assembly’s 2025 spring legislative session, state Rep. Michael Kelly, D-Chicago, introduced House Bill 2990. The measure would allow Chicago to opt out of video gaming instead of having to opt in, but the bill failed to advance out of committee.

JB Pritzker, other state leaders and community members gathered Thursday afternoon in honor of the renaming. The building at 115 S. LaSalle St. has been renamed the Jesse White State of Illinois Building.
