La Roche-Posay, Walgreens, Proactiv and SLMD Skincare have voluntarily recalled acne treatments from retail that contained trace amounts of the cancer-causing ingredient benzene.

Acne treatments sold by Proactiv and Walgreens Boots Alliance are being recalled because they are contaminated with a cancer-causing chemical called benzene, the US Food and Drug Administration said Tuesday.

Several major skin care brands like L’Oréal Paris and Proactiv issued a recall of their products due to elevated levels of benzene contamination.
