It took 15 innings, but for the first time in 25 years, the Seattle Mariners are headed to the American League Championship Series after a 3-2 Game 5 win over the Detroit Tigers in Friday's AL Division Series.
Kirby made the start against the Tigers in Game 1 of the series, pitching five innings, surrendering six hits, two runs, a walk, and eight strikeouts. He was ultimately given a no-decision in the game that the Tigers went on to win in extra innings.
