KERRVILLE, Texas (AP) — Emergency crews suspended their search for victims of catastrophic flooding in central Texas on Sunday morning amid new warnings that additional rain would again cause waterways to surge. It was the first time a new round of severe weather has paused the search since the flooding earlier this month.

A Flash Flood Emergency and numerous Flash Flood Warnings were issued in portions of Central Texas on Sunday morning after torrential rain led to the rapid rise of the Lampasas River.

Over 120 people have died after heavy rain pounded Kerr County, Texas, early Friday, leading to "catastrophic" flooding, the sheriff said.

A National Weather Service advisory warned of another 2-4 inches of rain falling in the region − and isolated areas could see 9-12 inches.

US President Donald Trump has reassured Kerrville, Texas, residents that the government would help rebuild after floods hit the central part of the state last week, killing at least 121 people. The president and First Lady Melania Trump met on Friday with local officials on the ground - at one point standing in front of an upended tractor trailer - and surveyed the damage.
