San Antonio guard De'Aaron Fox sustained the injury during training camp in October while still with Sacramento Kings.

Fox was traded alongside Jordan McLaughlin to the Spurs in a three-team trade involving the Chicago Bulls. The Bulls sent Zach LaVine, Sidy Cissoko, three first-round picks, and two second-round picks to the Kings. Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and a 2025 first-round pick were also sent to the Bulls, who also received Kevin Huerter from the Kings.

“Fox suffered the tendon injury during training camp in October and played through the ailment all season,” Shams reported. “For the Spurs and Fox, the decision to undergo surgery now was made to expedite the healing process and gain offseason chemistry with the roster based on recovery.”
