DETROIT -- Jared Goff’s three turnovers in the first half have the Detroit Lions fighting for their lives. The Washington Commanders lead 31-21 heading into the half, with Ford Field in a state of shock with 30 minutes to go and a trip back to the NFC title game on the line.

Lions starting cornerback Amik Robertson was ruled out of the team NFC's divisional round playoff game against the Commanders on Saturday night after suffering an elbow injury early in the opening quarter.

Quan Martin intercepted Jared Goff and returned it 40 yards for a touchdown with 5:25 left in the second quarter of the divisional playoff game at Ford Field in Detroit. On the return, Goff was knocked to the ground by Washington linebacker Frankie Luvu, whose helmet struck the lower part of Goff’s facemask.

Goff signed a massive four-year, $212,000,000 contract extension with the Lions on May 13, 2024. This deal guaranteed him $113,600,000 at signing when he was paid his $73 million signing bonus and salary for 2024 and 2025, and a $20 million portion of his 2025 salary upfront.

The Detroit Lions quarterback was in pursuit on the interception return when he was hit hard in the head by Washington Commanders linebacker Frankie Luvu. The Commanders scored, Goff was taken to the blue medical tent to be evaluated for a concussion and even worse, it probably should have been a penalty on Washington.
