Air Quality Alert issued for Mason County as Bear Gulch Fire burns over 5,700 acres
OLYMPIC NATIONAL FOREST, Wash. — The Bear Gulch Fire within the Olympic National Forest and National Park has now prompted an Air Quality Alert for those in Mason County, as the blaze has now grown to 5,777 acres as of Tuesday. Containment remains at 3%, as the fire grew an additional 125 acres since the last report on Monday.
During the hot weather this week the fire near Lake Cushman grew by more than 1,000 acres and containment decreased.

MASON COUNTY, Wash. — The Bear Gulch Fire burning near Lake Cushman has grown to 5,652 acres. It’s only 3% contained.
Officials stated Wednesday in a news release about the Bear Gulch fire that “a smoke column reached nearly 30,000 feet into the atmosphere” on Tuesday.
