MIAMI — Simone Fontecchio said he was asleep last week when he was dealt to the Miami Heat, but now is more than awake to his new NBA reality.

But Italian forward Simone Fontecchio hopes the trade is remembered for more than just the Heat’s loss of Robinson. Fontecchio, the player Detroit sent to Miami to complete the transaction, intends to make the most of his Heat opportunity.

With the sign-and-trade of the Miami Heat's most prolific sharpshooter in Duncan Robinson, going to the Detroit Pistons, the team in exchange got Simone Fontecchio. Besides the Heat trading for Norman Powell, Fontecchio was comparatively a lateral move, though there are aspects where he can contribute, as he speaks more about that on Tuesday.
