AP Top 25 poll preview: Alabama edges Missouri in SEC thriller, Florida State’s slump worsens
Week 7 of college football is underway. No. 8 Alabama edged out No. 14 Missouri in an Southeastern Conference thriller, while No. 25 Florida State's slump worsened with a loss to Pitt.
Oklahoma football’s first loss of the 2025 season was a particularly painful one. It wasn’t because of the Sooners’ College Football Playoff hopes — those are still firmly intact — but because of who it came against.
Florida bolstered its already-strong starting lineup led by Alex Condon and Thomas Haugh with offseason acquisitions of guards Boogie Fland and Xaivian Lee, giving the Gators a bonafide top-five preseason team. Still, it has been a long offseason, and we're less than a month from the Nov. 3 tipoff -- so it's time for the final preseason top 25 rankings. Is this the season Matt Painter and Purdue cut down the nets as first-time champs?
No. 12 DeMatha (Hyattsville, Md.) moved to 6-0 after defeating rival Good Counsel (Olney, Md.) 7-0. The game was scoreless until midway through the fourth quarter when Tristan Sabb found Penn State commit Lavar Keys in the end zone for six. DeMatha sealed the win by forcing a fumble with under two minutes to play.
