Kasperi Kapanen scored on a scramble in front of the net at 7:14 of overtime, and the Edmonton Oilers beat the Vegas Golden Knights 1-0 in Game 5 on Wednesday night to advance to the Western Conference final for the second year in a row.
The Golden Knights went more than six periods, 127 minutes, without scoring goal to end their season in back-to-back shutout fashion. The only time they’ve gone longer without getting on the scoreboard in the postseason came in 2020 when they lost in the Western Conference Final to the Dallas Stars.
