The Yuma Sector patrols 126 miles of border with Mexico, between the Yuma-Pima County line in Arizona and the Imperial Sand Dunes in California. The sector has responsibility for Yuma, La Paz, and Mojave Counties in Arizona, the Eastern-most areas of Imperial, Riverside, and San Bernardino Counties in California, and the entire State of Nevada.

Pursuant to its statutory responsibilities, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Office of the Immigration Detention Ombudsman (OIDO) Detention Oversight (DO) Division conducted an announced observation of the Yuma Soft-Sided Facility (YSS) in Yuma, Arizona on April 21, 2022.

During the most recent 12 month period for which data are available, a total of 251 detainees were transferred by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from the Yuma Hold Room where they had been temporarily housed to other facilities.
