Earlier this month, before the sun rose over the mountains of southern Colorado, a small group including Eric Gilbertson ascended Crestone Peak with heavy equipment in tow. They were due for that summit above 14,000 feet. They were equally interested in the summit a short, perilous scramble away: East Crestone.
